Integrated Service and Support Systems

An ever-changing global phenomenon, weather transcends national borders and has a major impact on our lives, sometimes even becoming a matter of life and death.

Weathernews continuously monitors these never-ending changes in weather, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and offers services to a variety of customers worldwide. These services are provided by our team of over 400 weather experts and our global network of 35 offices in 14 countries throughout the world.

Gathering Worldwide Weather Data

Our services constantly provide global-weather observation and forecast data, weather satellite data, aviation weather data, independent observation data, and topographical data.

Global Unified Forecast Center

Based on up-to-the-minute data gathered from around the world, independent numerical forecasting models are used to simultaneously provide on-line independent analysis of the weather and global forecasts. These forecasts serve as the foundation for our content, products and services tailored to specific customer needs.

Weather/Lifestyle Information Databases

Two databases drive our high-value content and services: The "dekita" database automatically processes a massive amount of various types of weather data gathered from around the world. The "tokimeki" database stores weather- and lifestyle-related geographical data, vegetation data, health-related data, and data for travelers.

Systems to Deliver Weather Content

Depending on the needs of our customers, our systems can provide timely weather data and content using any of several communication methods. These methods include dedicated digital lines, communication satellites, Internet lines, terrestrial radio, and mobile communication networks.

Risk Communicator
In addition to providing weather data and content, our "risk communicators" continuously monitor weather data to provide consulting services tailored to the exact needs of customers. Offering weather expertise and a high degree of knowledge regarding specific industries and business areas, risk communicators interact directly with customers to provide analysis and optimized solutions to weather-related problems.
